How Discord age assurance works
Discord can estimate whether an account belongs to an adult or teen using account signals. Most people do not need a manual confirmation. A prompt may appear when Discord cannot determine the age group, when you try to use an age-restricted space or setting, or where local rules require an age range.
Your age group is shown under User Settings → Account Status. It is not public on your profile. The available confirmation methods depend on your location and device. Follow only the options shown inside the official Discord app.
Discord says it does not ask you to confirm your age by email or text. Treat any such message as suspicious and open the app yourself instead of following its link.

Why is Discord asking my age?
Discord applies different safety settings to teen and adult accounts. It may ask for confirmation when its age group estimate is inconclusive or you access age-restricted features. Regional requirements can also affect the prompt.
What does Unconfirmed mean?
Discord has not confirmed your age group in the status shown to you. It does not, by itself, prove you are a teen. Open User Settings → Account Status and follow an in-app Confirm Age prompt if available.
Can Discord change my age group?
Discord may update its classification. If the displayed age group is wrong, use its official in-app confirmation or support guidance. This site cannot change it.
Which confirmation methods exist?
Discord lists options such as sharing an age range from Apple App Store or Google Play, a credit card check, Google Wallet, video selfie, ID scan, and AgeKey. You may see only some of these, depending on region and device.
Is age estimation the same as ID verification?
No. Discord describes automatic age estimation from account signals separately from manual confirmation. An ID scan is one possible manual method, not a universal requirement.
What if my devices show different statuses?
Update the mobile app, close and reopen Discord, then check Account Status again. Discord reported and resolved a September 2026 cross-device mismatch; if the issue persists, consult its status page and support article.
Does every user need age verification?
No. Discord says most users do not need manual age confirmation. Whether you see a prompt depends on your account, activity, region, and available methods.
